Second Sundays

Generative Sundays

Generative Sundays prioritize our loving action in our local (and sometimes global) community through tangible acts of care. This often just looks like being a good neighbor and responding to an immediate need. Other times it means investing in communities we love over long periods of time. We use our time, bodies, money, and connections to support these relationships and make sure their work thrives.

Other projects have included volunteering at the food bank, participating in antiracist bystander intervention training, supporting a fire department during the wildfires, engaging in voter registration events to lift up all voices, and restoring neighborhood gardens.

Community partners include Glen Park public elementary school, Sunset Youth Services, New Door Ventures, and Honoré Farm & Mill.

Common Table's partnership with Honoré Farm and Mill

Since 2017 we have been a member of Honoré's Growers Guild, using Honoré's freshly milled flour in our Communion Bread. Each year Elizabeth de Ruff, Honoré's agricultural chaplain, sends us and other member churches a bag of seed to be blessed and sown in nearby wine country. The seed we bless yields the wheat that is harvested and milled for the Communion bread we bake. We are part of a living ecosystem, and our work on the land planting and tending is helping to midwife the very wheat that nourishes us!
